Costa Rica SS1 2005

Study Abroad in Costa Rica is GREAT!

Costa Rica was a great place to visit and learn. I did not know any Spanish when I went, but I learned so much. I think I learned the most Spanish staying with a host family in Monte Verde and San Juaquin and trying to communicate with them. The work involved with taking two A&M classes as well as Spanish everyday was at times challenging but the activities we did on the weekends were amazing and made the work during the week more worthwhile. My favorite was either the Arenal Volcano or Sky Trek. I loved the trip into Nicaragua, too. There we saw another volcano and the town of Granada. The things I learned in my other A&M classes I am already using while I work. It was such a wonderful experience that I hope to return to learn some more Spanish soon.

One trip that we took during the week was to the Monte Verde Cloudforest Sky Trek/Sky Walk.  Looking down on the clouds from the Sky Trek tower was amazing. Then seeing people ride the zip line and disappear into those clouds was great. Finally getting to ride into those clouds myself and feel the cool rain as I flew past was breath-taking.
